SINS SCHOOL OF POPULAR EDUCATION
How do we thrive, despite every threat to our survival?
From COVID-19 to climate crisis, disabled people are among those least protected from societal collapse.
WE SEE CAPITALISM FALLING ALL AROUND US. WE KNOW IT WONT GO DOWN WITHOUT A FIGHT!
How do we get ready? How do we protect ourselves and those we love most?
How do we thrive, despite every threat to our survival?
This year's Sins School of Popular Education explores how crips find joy, build resilience, and stay alive during this time of transformation.
We'll build community, hone our creativity, and of course, celebrate with each other!
Workshops begin on July 16th. Will we meet you there?

WORKSHOP #1
PoesĂa es supervivencia (Poetry Is Survival)
Poetry is not separate from how we make space for our imaginative bodyminds to flourish in a hostile world: poetry is how we survive that world. How do language justice and disability justice change the ways we use language? How are they not just political practices, but also creative forces?
WORKSHOP #2
Disability and Climate Justice: Moving Together for Our Futures to Be Possible
This workshop explores the intersections of Disability and Climate Justice and the importance of centering disability justice practices and principles in climate justice movements for our futures to be possible.
WORKSHOP #3
Honoring Our Sacred Earth and Human Bodies
How will our precious bodies be cared for in a climate disaster? How can our work incorporate resistance to the extractive economy that causes the climate crises around the globe?
Engage with folks deep in the fields of climate change and Disability Justice – hear their thinking, ask them questions and offer your thoughts on stewarding the land and our own sacred bodies.
WORKSHOP #4
Mask-Decorating to Honor Disabled Loss
You are invited to join Sins Invalid and the Collective Loss Adaptation Project (CLAP) to decorate a mask in honor of losses in your own disabled life. Each mask will be added to a community-wide memorial installation of disabled COVID-19 losses, including beloved humans as well as “disenfranchised losses” such as mobility, independence, and community.
FREE CLOSING DANCE PARTY!
Va-va-voom! A celebratory crip dance party
Join Sins Invalid for a celebratory crip dance party! This is the closing session for Sins Invalid’s School of Popular Education, and the unveiling of the gorgeous graphic novel created by Trinidad Escobar with support from Creative Wildfire.
